Let this live as video proof that a backyard wedding can be as elegant as any ballroom 😀
Here's a little something from Alicia and Matthew's questionnaire about how they came to be:
"Matt and I met at work during a wedding I was asking to come in and take over at the 11th hour in South East Florida. Matt's company was hired to do the lighting/audio/scenic for the wedding and I was brought in after the couple fired their planner for some pretty significant reasons- needless to say it was a pressure cooker of a first meeting and working together but it was the biggest feather in my cap, and I "got the guy!" It was not love at first sight but there was chemistry working together and a business relationship that blossomed into a friendship and then we both realized we were falling in love. Our relationship spans to Michigan and Florida were we call both peninsulas home. Last September Matt put together our first official vacation to Scotland. It holds a special place in his heart, he learned to play the bagpipes in the Isle of Skye and he studied abroad at the University of Edinburgh. It was the last day of our vacation in Skye and Matt proposed during the only 15 minute window of sunshine during the entire trip overlooking the Quiraing, an expansive landslide on the north east coast of Skye. He said,"Now this is the view I imagined... when I would ask you to marry me." And just like that, he was down on one knee and I was hugging my best friend and soon to be husband."
We love turning clients into friends... but sometimes we are lucky enough to have our friends want to become our clients
Coastline has had the pleasure of working alongside Alicia at A Day In May Events for 7+ years now, but this summer she got to step in front of the camera with her fiance Matthew, and the two became one up in Traverse City in their own backyard wedding!
It was the type of perfect day that only Traverse City can produce. We arrived to the A Day in May Events team already in full swing, working together with BLOOM Floral Design, Frost Florida Event Production, Serradella Vintage, and Event Theory to create a very elegant, yet relaxed, wedding event!
Trusting the team she has built around her, Alicia was able to sit back and enjoy being the bride; getting her hair done by impres salon spa, and makeup by Venus Beauty. Meanwhile, Matthew was prepping for his first look with his bride-to-be
After a beautiful ceremony, the two were able to enjoy the cocktail hour with their loved ones, before moving into the AMAZING tented reception for dinner catered by Boathouse Traverse City Restaurant. The beautiful floral arrangements throughout the space were matched perfectly by Bella e Dolce - Northern Michigan's three-tiered delicious masterpiece. The Bob Mervak Ensemble provided the tunes to get the night jumping, and finish off a perfect day.
We had a great time up in Traverse City working next to Liz Banfield Photography, Inc., and just feel so privileged to have the friends we have
Congrats on Forever, Alicia and Matthew!
