From working together, to locking eyes in an elevator, to marketing jobs that led these two to opposite ends of the country… from long distance, to engaged, and then, married. Joel and Sarah have been through a lot the last four (plus) years. When they decided to get hitched in Sarah’s hometown of Grand Rapids and asked us to capture their big day, we were over the moon. We can’t wait to share their trailer with you!
The day started at The Amway Grand Plaza and Hotel where Sarah and her girls spent the morning being pampered by Erick Makeup. They had a team of hair and make-up professionals to make sure all the girls looked flawless. Meanwhile, across the hotel, Joel and his friends and family suited up in their The Black Tux tuxedos. Joel’s traditional tux was the perfect compliment to Sarah’s Ines di Santo gown.
Once they were ready everyone fought the Art Prize 18′ crowds to head to Basilica of St. Adalbert for their lovely Catholic ceremony. Joel had the sweetest reaction to Sarah walking down the aisle with her dad. We love the shot our shooter, Josh, captured of him because out of focus in the foreground you see her bridesmaids wiping away tears of joy. After a short mass, the two said their vows and sealed their marriage with a kiss. Then, they were off for photos around town with West Michigan Wedding Photographer, Karyn May.
Meanwhile, guests enjoyed drinks and hors d’oeuvre during cocktail hour. The Amway was buzzing with all of Sarah and Joel’s loved ones. As always, Posh Petals did a phenomenal job with event design, coordination, and floral for this flawless wedding. We love the touches of deep purple, lush linens, loads of candles, and all of the personalized touches; like Stationary by Mason Jones, illustration by Yega Illustrations, and one delightful cake by the Amway Grand. Sarah and Joel entered and shared a beautiful choreographed first dance, cut their cake, heard toasts from their loved ones, and danced the night away with all of their favorite people – and if you can’t tell, they can really bust a move!
We wish you two a lifetime of love. Congratulations on your marriage!
