Sometimes on your wedding day you can feel like the spotlight is on and you are up in the front, performing for all of your friends and family. Luckily for this couple, many of their friends were actual performers with the Young Americans, and so it was all part of the tradition when they joined Heather and Stewart out on the dance floor to serenade them at their beautiful Northern Michigan Wedding.
Here's a little something from their questionnaire on how they met:
"We met initially in 2009 when we both joined a performing arts organization in California called The Young Americans, but it wasn't until January of 2013, when we touring the U.K, that we became close. We officially got together on March 10th 2013 and its been an amazing journey since! We've spent almost half of our time together doing long distance, but more recently we have lived together in Chelmsford, U.K whilst heather completed her Degree in Applied Nutritional Science. It was in March 2018 when Heather was beginning a 2 week girls trip with some friends from Michigan when we got engaged. Stewart joined them for the start of the trip in Florence, Heather visited there previously in 2009 when on a choir trip with her High School and always regretted not visiting or climbing the Florence Duomo. Stewart always knew that this would be the place to propose, as Heather LOVES Italy and Stewart wanted to make sure that her visit to the Duomo would be one that she never forgot! We climbed the Cathedral stairs, all 463 of them, took in the views and then Stewart popped the question!"
The day started with Stewart and his guys hanging out and getting ready for the day at The Cherry Tree Inn. After slipping into their suits and adjusting their ties they were off! At the same time the bride and her girls began their prepping of hair and makeup before Heather put on her gorgeous wedding gown over at The Bluebridge Events Centre where they were also soon to be married and dance the night away.
In the chapel at the Bridge Centre the breathtaking floral arch and rose petal lined aisle, provided by Stephanie at Bluebridge, greeted guests as they found their seats for the ceremony. As each member of the bridal party made their way down the aisle, you could see the anticipation on Stewart’s face as he awaited his bride to be. Then, there she was gliding down the aisle accompanied by her father, ready to greet her groom. After tying a unity knot while a close friend read poetry, they sealed their love with a kiss, and they were off to celebrate!
Guests enjoyed cocktails and hor’derves on the patio before heading inside to see the magical reception space complete with a dessert table for even the biggest sweet tooth! With donuts and treats from Peace, Love & Little Donuts, pies from Grand Traverse Pie Company, and a wedding cake provided by Waters Edge Sweet Tooth there was a little something for everybody. Oh, and we can’t forget the late night ice cream sundae bar with Moomers Ice Cream! After hearing some heartwarming toasts and enjoying a dinner provided by Uptown Catering, it was time for Heather and Stewart to hit the dance floor and fully celebrate their new lives together with all their closest friends and family.
The Young Americans in the crowd got a chance to serenade the couple, as is tradition, with an acapella choral song just after their first dance, so make sure you stick around for the end of the video. 😉 It was such a joy working alongside Ben Law Photography capturing Heather and Stewart’s beautiful Northern Michigan wedding, and we feel so grateful to have been a part of it. Congrats on forever you two!!
