Anne and Calvin have a long love story, one where they felt an initial connection, but both had a lot of things in their personal lives they were focusing on (making careers for themselves and getting the hang of life)...Years after meeting, Anne and Calvin bumped into each other at a friends gathering during Thanksgiving break. Immediately, the original connection was still there, and they soon began a relationship...
Next, something amazing happened! The night we were filming Katie + Michael's wedding, the two were guests and said I love you for the first time on the dance-floor (must be the magic of the jib, hahaha!).
Not long after, Calvin knew he wanted to propose. He spent countless hours working with a jeweler on Anne’s engagement ring, wanting it to be perfect for her. He made a trip up to Petoskey to ask Anne’s parents, Carl and Susie, for their blessing (which of course they gave) and then planned to propose at Thanksgiving. In front of Anne’s family in a beautiful, authentic, and touching moment (which caught Anne completely by surprise), Calvin got down on one knee and asked her to marry him. Anne of course immediately said yes!
When they decided to tie the knot at Castle Farms, they immediately called us to capture their wedding day too, and we are so happy they did!
There were plenty of elements about this wedding we loved, but let's talk more about the surprise processional song!
From the questionnaire:
"When Calvin and Anne started dating one thing they had in common was their love for music. Both were in choir throughout their middle school and high school years. Calvin introduced Anne to an acapella group that he and his sister Wesley loved called the Pentatonix, and they spent hours in the car listening to their soundtracks and singing along. There was a particular song from the Pentatonix that Calvin loved to sing where he could really showcase his voice, and Anne instantly fell in love. Anne remembered and thought this song would be perfect for her to walk down the aisle to because when they both re-met each other, they had come out of long/hard relationships and for a while there they dated on and off as they were unsure if they were ready to get into a serious relationship. However, it wasn't long that they realized that they couldn't help but be drawn to one another and decided to give it a shot, and now here they are getting MARRIED!!! The song that Anne and her wedding party will be walking down the aisle to is called "Standing By" by the Pentatonix."
SWOON!!!
Per usual we worked alongside tons of phenomenal vendors this day!
Between floral by A.R. Pontius Flower Shop, linens and other lovelies from Special Occasions West, vintage stemware from Gigi and Laclede Vintage Rentals, rentals from Taylor Rental Party Plus, a delicious naked cake by Bella e Dolce... Let's just say, there were a lot of details to keep in order, and Merry Makers did an amazing job bringing all of those special elements together to create a beautiful wedding. And we loved working alongside Stephanie Baker to capture all those magical moments.
Despite the rain, we are so happy Anne and Calvin decided to keep their outdoor ceremony. We would stand in the rain ten times over to be a part of this day. Thank you for choosing us to capture your day and create your film. We wish you two all the magic the world has to offer!
