A little bit on how these two love birds met from the bride:
“My sister and I are very close and we both went to college together and graduated from Michigan State. We have a strong love for Michigan State football and have continued to renew our season football tickets (post graduation), along with some close friends of ours. At a football tailgate, my sister’s best friend happened to meet another alumni, whom she started dating not long after that day. They fell in love, got engaged, and planned a wedding for August 24th, 2013.
On the day of the wedding, my sister and I made plans to meet at the church. I remember getting lost and turned around a couple times, surrounded by corn fields, wondering where in the heck I was. Needless to say, I was late to the ceremony. We did, however, have an absolute blast at the reception. It was exactly as I’d hoped and my sister and I hardly left the dance floor. Towards the end of the night, as my feet were starting to get sore, I decided to take a break at one of the chairs lining the dance floor. Not too long after I sat down, a man came up to me and asked me to dance. I wasn’t interested, as my break was just starting, but he didn’t allow me to answer, just grabbed my hand and pulled me on the dance floor. Once a slow song came on, we talked about our history and our current lives and I discovered that he was a farmer from the same small town as the groom. I had never heard of the town and had definitely never met any farmers but, he was charming and sweet, and very very nice. I will never forget feeling his eyes on me for the rest of the night, and every time they locked, he’d give me a slight little wink that was only exchanged between us. The reception ended not too long after that and some people hung around, as others began saying their goodbyes, cleaning up, and heading out. He nervously asked me for my phone number, texted me the next morning, and we’ve talked every day since then.”
They fell in love themselves, then got engaged, and started planning a wedding of their very own.
Lucky for us, they invited us along to capture the whole thing!
The day started for the girls by getting pampered by the team at The Pearl Lyon, while the guys had some drinks on their MSU party bus (Go Green!) and headed to St. Patrick Catholic Church to suit up in their Men’s Wearhouse suits. Once their hair and make-up was perfect the girls also headed to the church, with their bouquets in hand from Kill’s Custom Creations. Once they arrived, Stephanie slipped into her gorgeous gown from Becker’s Bridal, and her Badgley Mischka heels to get ready to walk down the aisle to see her man.
After the two said I do, and sealed their vows with a kiss, they were off to Ionia County Fairgrounds‘ Floral Building to celebrate with all of their family and friends. Simply Brilliant Events planned a gorgeous wedding, with rentals and decor from Weddings By Nicole, more floral from Kill’s Custom Creations, and cake and donuts from Meyers’ Hometown Bakery. Guests indulged in catering from Slows BBQ and beverage service from MUGS Party Store, then everyone danced the night away thanks to the spinnin’ skills of DJ Derek Hall.
We are so glad they chose us to capture their big day, and we wish you two nothing but the best in your marriage!
