From the bride…
“Steven and I met back in September 2006. The story goes that he was out with friends at a bar called Fifth Avenue in Royal Oak, and so was I. I ran into my sister at the bar that night, and she requested that I go upstairs to see if there was someone we didn’t want to run into up on the 2nd floor. When I got upstairs, this person in question was not up there, but I saw Steven from the corner of my eye. I was out with some friends that night, and I wasn’t really looking to meet anyone new, so I decided to go back downstairs to the group of people I had came with. As I walked across the bar, some guy grabs my arm and says “I want to introduce you to my friend.” This guy, Eddy, then pulls Steven towards me, and we start talking. No more than 5 minutes into the conversation, my friends text me that we’re leaving, and I was never the type of person to give out my number at the bar, but I this time I thought, “why not?” That night was pretty much how it all began.”
Before long, the two got engaged, and when they starting planning their big day, they invited us along to capture it!
The day began at Southfield Westin Hotel. Monica slipped into her lacy gown (that was her mom’s pick), put on her heirloom earrings, and stepped into her sparkling peep toes. Meanwhile, Steven suited up in his navy suit, custom made by Knot Standard DC. The two met for a first look and were blown away by one another before strolling through the garden for photos with John Bigtacion.
The two had a gorgeous ceremony at Sweetest Heart of Mary in Detroit. The ceremony was filled with Filipino traditions and ended with a kiss so the two could be whisked away to their reception at Great Lakes Culinary Center. Pegasus Entertainment designed the event, with floral, linens, chiavari chairs, and other decor from Flowers by Amore. We adored their sweetheart table, sequin table cloths, gold beaded chargers, and most of all, their blush cake, covered in rhinestones, ruffles, and flowers, perfect for the first piece of cake to share as husband and wife! Monica and Steven heard toasts from loved ones and then had their first dance to open up the dance floor. Don’t worry, they had boas and sunglasses a plenty for their guests, and did they ever have a party!
Congratulations on forever you two, thanks for choosing us to capture your big day!
