Maegan + Steve met in an non-tradition way, at a rock show. Here’s how Maegan describes it on their questionnaire,
“Steve & I met purely by chance at a rock concert in Grand Rapids in May 2009. I was with a group of guy friends and Steve was with his brother. Somehow we ended up next to each other and struck up a conversation (I think it started with me making fun of him). Both of us were semi-fresh out of relationships and neither of us were actively looking for a relationship at the time. At the end of the night Steve asked me for my number. We talked for a few months and then started officially dating in November of that year. Steve lived in Ludington and I lived in Grand Rapids so we would often meet half-way in Muskegon for dinner or a movie. As things got more serious we would each take turns every weekend driving to either Ludington or Grand Rapids to spend the weekends together. Steve would often drive home at 2 or 3 in the morning to start his 4 or 5AM shift at work. This long distance went on for years until Steve decided to move to Grand Rapids to pursue his nursing degree.”
They were engaged in December of 2013, and wed in September of 2015; they chose us to help capture it!
The girls started their day at Brindle & Blonde, getting pampered with mimosas in hand. Erick Gerson did Maegan’s make up before she headed back to JW Marriott to get dressed. Meanwhile, the guys got on their tuxes in their suite, and prepared for the big day. Maegan looked stunning in her fit and flare gown, that she paired perfectly with her halo drop earrings, and her Michael Kors heels. Maegan shared a sweet first look with her dad, and then everyone headed to City Flats Ballroom for the ceremony and reception.
Red Heels Events and Posh Petals created a gorgeous ceremony scene, with a swirled rose petal aisle, floating candles, and vibrant floral. Maegan and Steve had the sweetest vows they wrote themselves, exchanged rings, and with a kiss were wed. They they were taken around town for photos with Jacqueline Marie Studios, and meanwhile, Red Heels Events flipped the ballroom for the reception. With fuchsia up-lighting, lush and sparkly linens from Special Occasions, event rentals from Events by i.candy, black candelabras, bight fabulous floral by Posh Petals, and a delicious cake by Cakabakery, the reception was a party just waiting to happen! We especially loved their popcorn bar favors. The DJ from Moments in Time played great music, and Maegan and Steve danced the night away with their closest family and friends.
We’re so glad you two invited us to capture your big day, and wish you all the best in your new adventure in marriage!
