A little bit about the couple (from the bride, Amanda):
“We met in high school when I was a sophomore and he was a senior. We dated his senior year and then when he left to attend college at Western Michigan University. Though we did not really continue dating while he was away at college, we kept in touch and when I attended Western Michigan University a year later, we reconnected. We started dating again. Kyle left Michigan after graduation to accept a job offer in Virginia Beach. A year later after I graduated, I moved down to Virginia Beach to join him. We lived together for a year and a half when he proposed one December night.”
After their engagement, the two were wed this June… and they invited us along to capture the big day!
The day started for the girls in the penthouse suite at 310 E Michigan Ave, Kalamazoo… home of The Skydeck, Gatsby, and Loft 310. The ladies spent the morning getting pampered by a hair and make-up team and enjoying some mimosas, before Amanda slipped into her gorgeous ruched gown from Pure English Bridal Couture (in Virginia Beach, where the couple is from). Meanwhile, the boys had drinks and cracked jokes in the grooms suite while they suited up for the main event.
Once everyone was dressed, the couple met for their first look and a quick photo session with Jamie & Sarah before Amanda was walked down the aisle. If the first look wasn’t emotional enough, Kyle teared up during her entrance, and the two took a moment to give each other rings, their promise of forever, and some adorable vows.
After the ceremony, it wasn’t long before guests were enjoying Kalamazoo craft beer from Bells Brewery at Gatsby. The cocktail hour location was extra special because Amanda + Kyle have a dog named Gatsby who means the world to them, and thought this would be a sweet way to incorporate him into the day. After, the bridal party was announced, and the couple entered their reception. Our favorite part of their reception space, personally, was all the greenery and lush white peonies and anemones… Fond of Florals did a truly amazing job on all of their pretty petals.
Once the reception started, the couple enjoyed toasts from loved ones, a dinner catered by the Loft 310. Then, they cut their adorable cake from Bert’s Bakery. We absolutely adored their gold cake topper. Though the two cut a cake, the guests were even more spoiled with one of the couple’s favorite treats, gourmet donuts from Sweetwater’s Donut Mill! Since the couple attended college in Kalamazoo, it was really important to them to incorporate these local flavors that they have missed so much while in Virginia Beach.
The couple shared a first dance full of giggles and twirls and were then joined by all of their guests on the dance-floor to dance their wedding night away.
We had so much fun with these two, and we wish them nothing but the best on their new adventure together as life long partners!
