Let’s kick this blog post off with Kristen + Kyle’s adorable proposal story:
Kyle proposed to Kristen on a Saturday evening, on the beach of Big Star Lake. Kyle brought Kristen up north to his cottage to celebrate his mother’s birthday with his family. They had been reading the book of Ephesians a lot during that time and planned on reading part of it down at the beach. 3pm rolled around and Kyle asked Kristen if she wanted to go down to the beach together and Kristen responded.. let’s wait a couple hours more toward sunset! 4pm rolls by… Kyle asks Kristen again and she responds let’s wait a little longer to go down to the beach! What’s a proposal without some complications from the bride to keep her man on his toes, right? Luckily Kyle’s mom was in on the plan and stepped in, encouraging the two to go down to the beach! Thanks to Michigan’s unpredictable weather, this May evening was a cool one so they walked down with jeans and jackets with the beach to themselves. They sat near a dock and read through Ephesians 3-5 together, ending with the passage talking about husbands and wives. Then, Kyle promised to be all the things mentioned in Ephesians 5 to Kristen, and proceeded to get down on one knee. Overwhelmed and excited Kristen responded.. RIGHT NOW?! (Realizing that wasn’t the proper answer)… YES!
And about a year later, the two were wed!
The day started at the church where the girls got pampered, and the guys suited up. Kristen got her make-up done by the ever so amazing Erick G, and the girls got their hair done by the talented girls at Profile Salon. Kyle wore a great navy suit, with some amazing shoes, while Kristen slipped into her stunning lace, a-line, gown with all the accessories to match. Not to mention her flawless bouquet by Eastern Floral!
The two had a beautiful ceremony at First Congregational Church of Grand Rapids, Kristen got teary eyed as she walked towards her handsome groom. The two vowed to be together forever, had a sand ceremony, a lovely prayer, and then a kiss to seal the deal!
Last, the bridal party and guests were off to the Goei Center, which was filled with personalized decor to the brim. Little houses lit up on all the table tops, a popcorn bar for guests, photos and twinkling lights galore – you could tell they put a personal touch on everything. Our favorite part? The amazing hand-painted cake by Desserts by Lori! The overflowing dessert bar they created wasn’t to shabby either!
Everyone danced the whole night away, and partied like there was no tomorrow. It was such a lively reception, you could feel the energy and love in the room. We wish you two all of the best in your journey together. Congratulations on becoming Mr. & Mrs.
