One of the things I love most about my job is documenting all the little stories outside and around the overall wedding story and Maria and Simon’s wedding was full of them! To help capture the day, I had the magic skills of Ryan Prins to assist and 2nd shoot with me.
Here are a few of the small stories that made for a fantastic day.
Meet Maria… full of anticipation, but always calm and full of smiles.
Ring and Nails combo detail shot.
A common site … Maria in a full blown smile. 🙂
Meet Simon, just before seeing Maria walk down the isle.
A great little story… Maria’s father playing a solo just after giving her away. There weren’t many dry eye’s after he was done.
Fast forward to the reception… this is just outside the main reception hall.
We had a little time before the reception started, and I spotted this path with large tree’s on both sides. A little off camera flash, and some clever positioning of the light made for a great photo spot.
By far my favorite part of the day was the reception. There were so many fun and special moments to capture, and I hit a sweet spot with the off camera lighting and just LOVE how the images turned out.
I love how the lighting in these next two pictures turned out. It almost doesn’t look like flashes were used to light it. Sweet!
Here’s a fun side story… The maid of honor flew in from Brazil just for the wedding! She stayed with the bride’s family when she was in high school as an exchange student and instantly became part of the family. She gave 80% of her speech in her native language too. 🙂
She still wants to dance, he’s had enough. 🙂
The Maid of Honor (Marianna?) dancing with her “adopted” dad, the father of the bride.
Ok these next pictures I just had to share. This is the “before” picture…
Then out of no where I had a “Holly Henderson” type moment where I yelled and waved my hands in the air to get the girls excited. I tend to be a little more journalistic and capture what happens, but felt the urge to get involved a little more this time… here’s the result. He he he.
By the end of the night… we had lost a few party animals… 🙂
Then, just as I was leaving, the mother of the bride pointed out that the moon was out and asked if I’d snap a picture of it. It was a harvest moon and only happens once every 4 years in October. It was a fun and unique way to end the day photographically with yet another little story. 🙂
Congrats Maria and Simon! So fun to have shared your special day with you and your incredible friends and family.
