One of the things I love most about my job is seeing a story come together in the editing room. About a month or two ago I was in the final stages of editing Michael and Alishan’s wedding together and I reached a point where they were about to see each other for the first time. I selected one of the many song options they provided and after only sampling the first half of a particular song I began to work.
As things progressed in the story, the song began to build… along with the anticipation of their first glance of seeing each other. The camera coverage jumps back and forth between Michael and Alishan as they walk to thier designated meeting place, both of them looking around every corner wondering if they can sneak a peak. Then just as the song reaches its pinnacle in intensity they finally meet each other.
Then the 2nd half of the song starts (the part I didn’t hear while previewing it the first time) and there is this beautiful “postlude” in the music that gives a feeling of freedom and relief from of all the tension and anticipation that preceded it. … a time to just relax and enjoy each other… wow. Beautiful. What a great moment in their story.
Ok, enough talking… time for the video. We jump in about 15 minutes into the movie just after the guys finish getting dressed, and then I let it run all the way through the Ceremony. I loved the way the “pre-ceremony” montague came together as well… very artsy. : ) Enjoy!
